The HotBox 2 from SlingFin is an ultra-lightweight 4-season tent. Reinforced, based on expedition tent techniques, it is designed to withstand harsh conditions. The WebTruss ceiling system keeps the structure in tension, ensuring the stability of the poles. It also makes it easier to pitch the tent in high winds. The WebTruss allows you to pitch the fly and the inner at the same time in poor weather conditions. For this setup, the WebTruss can also be replaced with DAC Twist clips (included) for additional weight savings.

The chamber can be reinforced for extra stability with an internal guy system. By simply stretching guy wires between the various attachment points, this allows the chamber structure to be strengthened for only a few grams. Also, loops on the inside of the awning allow the fabric to be quickly attached to the poles. The structure is made up of two DAC NFL 9.3mm hoops. The seams of the attachment points are reinforced. The zips have additional safety sliders in case of failure or breakage.

The HotBox 2 can accommodate two people. It has a large door without an apse, making it easy to enter and exit the tent. There is a rotting tarpaulin on each side of the tent to store equipment underneath. These areas are accessible from inside the tent via circular openings. Made from extremely lightweight fabrics, it is made from 20D Ripstop nylon fabric, siliconised on both sides. The chamber is made of a solid fabric to offer more protection against wind and cold and is also water-repellent. For ventilation, in addition to the mesh areas on the doors, there is a circular opening through the flysheet and the chamber. Eight storage pockets are located in the inner.

Pick up a footprint to prolong the life of your HotBox's floor or set up the tent without the body.

About slingfin

SlingFin was founded in 2010 with one simple goal. Build the strongest, most innovative, no-expense-spared outdoor equipment in the world.

Slingfin represents the sum total of founder Martin Zemitis’ three decades of experience in the outdoor industry. After designing for The North Face and Sierra Designs for around a decade he co-founded Mountain Hardwear, where he designed equipment until 2009. Eventually he began to desire more freedom to design without the constraints of price targets and decided it was time to take things in a new direction. Soon thereafter, SlingFin was born.

Slingfin started making high alpine-focused dream tents that people on Everest would use as windbreaks for other tents. After a while, they realized the demand for shelters that can stand up to the elements extends well beyond the high alpine. Since then they’ve kept the strength-to-weight ratio of their tents at the forefront of their product development process. Choosing materials that improve the long-term durability of the products even if they’re more expensive, because they believe a good tent should be a long-term investment. Through thoughtful design, premium materials, and a deep understanding of tensile structures, Slingfin have created a full lineup of tents that can withstand much harsher conditions than other tents in their weight class.

SlingFin is an employee-owned, self-funded company. This means no suits, no “bean-counters”, and no pressure to maximize profit at the expense of quality. They’re small, lean, and scrappy, and they like it that way. Making the gear they want to use, not the gear a VC firm thinks will get them the best ROI. Their designs are inspired by the desire for stronger, lighter gear. Drawing on their deep industry heritage and passion for the outdoors to ensure that the materials, attention to detail, and build quality of their products are impeccable.
