Adds durable water repellency; reducing weight gain, maintaining the insulation and breathability of down filled items in cold and damp conditions. Nikwax Down Proof™ has been specifically designed and optimised for down filled gear. It adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR), which protects against rain and condensation, improving the natural insulating properties of down.

How to use

Down Wash Direct: 

Machine Wash (for down clothing only):

1. Remove all detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser.
2. Place maximum 2 items in washing machine.
3. Add 100 ml.
4. Wash according to care label, preferably on low setting and slow spin.
5. After the washing cycle has finished run multiple spin cycles, each time incrementally increasing the spin speed, to remove excess water.

(Hand wash sleeping bags or wash in a professional machine).

Uses per bottle:

• Approximately 100ml required per 2 items

Down Proof:

For best results remove all non-washable parts and clean item(s) first with Nikwax Down Wash™ in a separate wash cycle. No need to dry item(s) before waterproofing. Shake well before use. Follow care label instructions (large items can be treated by hand).

Uses per bottle:

• Approximately 150ml per item of clothing
• Approximately 300ml per sleeping bag

Front Loading Machine Wash

1. Remove all detergent build up from the detergent dispenser
2. Place clean item in washing machine (maximum 1 item)
3. Use 150ml for 1 item
4. Run 30°C synthetic cycle and slow spin
5. After the cycle has finished run multiple spin cycles, each time incrementally increasing the spin speed, to remove excess water.

Hand Wash(use gloves)

1. Immerse clean item(s) in hand-hot water. For clothing: use 150ml per item, fully submerge items(s) in water. For sleeping bags: use 300ml in 4cm deep water in a bath
2. Agitate to mix, leave to soak for 5-10 minutes, then agitate thoroughly
3. Rinse clothing in cold water until water runs clear. For sleeping bags, repeat process, drain and gently press bag to expel excess water
