Hyperlite Mountain Gear's UltaMid 1 is about as light as a three-season shelter gets: 235g, and it packs down small enough to sit next to a Nalgene in your pack. A single trekking pole is all it takes to pitch the pyramid shape taut, with six perimeter tie-outs locking in a fast, stable setup and 3.7m² of floor space to spread out in. Two peak vents keep air moving through the shelter to cut down on condensation, while the weatherproof YKK Aquaguard zippered vestibule doors close up tight against the weather. Built entirely from 100% waterproof Dyneema Composite Fabric, with the apex and tie-outs reinforced in a tougher Dyneema Composite Hybrid, it's designed to take a beating without adding weight. The modular design also pairs with an optional bug-net and floor insert, so you can dial in exactly how much protection you need for the trip.
