An excellent day-pack for 10 days in South Korea

Went overseas for the first time to South Korea, and purchased this as a last-minute addition in case we wanted to hike the old city wall in the rain. Boy was I glad I had it! On many of the days, this Osprey bag replaced the Aer Day Sling 3 I had intended to rely on for EDC. Good parts: two water bottle holders meant I could carry a bottle and an umbrella; huge capacity meant I could dump anything I thought I might want for the day into the main compartment and still have room to buy overpriced plushies at Namsan Tower (😊) and shove my thin hoodie in afterwards when it got too hot; the waterproof rolltop design had me confident nothing inside would get wet (and it indeed didn't); the front zipper compartment was perfect for quick-access stuff like hand sanitiser and my Pocket 3 camera with extended battery; the compression straps around the water bottle pockets were AMAZING for guaranteeing neither my bottle nor my umbrella would fall out when running up stairs (which was a frequent occurrence; did you know South Korea is entirely composed of stairs?); the pocket it folds into when packed away becomes a small velcro-closed pocket inside the front storage compartment, and the external hanging clip when packed becomes a key leash inside that small velcro pocket when unpacked (very clever design, Osprey!); and the sternum strap worked great! The bad parts: the total lack of any structure or padding meant I had to be a bit careful which things would end up sitting against my back (lest I be slowly poked to death by the corner of my battery bank); the rolltop design was tricky to roll correctly and seemed to eventually come mostly unrolled under the weight of the bag pulling against the straps/harness whether I rolled it forward or backward (the straps holding the rolled part down seemed too long/loose even when tightened fully and even when trapping air in the bag to force some structure); and the rolltop design made it inconvenient to access things in the main compartment (by the end of the trip I had gotten pretty good at rolling and unrolling, but it was still impractical to do by swinging the bag around to my front). Overall the pros far outweighed the cons for my use case. The simple fact that it packs down to almost nothing (which I found easier to do by first inverting it inside the front zip compartment) means I will likely take this as a backup bag on every long trip from now on. And thank you Backpacking Light for fast delivery!
