About Sunday Afternoons
The Lacy family has been playing outdoors together since the early 1980s. Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, Sunday Afternoons founders Robbin and Angeline Lacy raised their family in Ashland, Oregon, where they spent their free time windsurfing, hiking, and exploring nature on long Sunday
Afternoons.
In 1986, Angeline began sewing waterproof, portable blankets for beach trips and backcountry picnics. Named The Original Adventure Blanket™, the Lacys began sharing them with friends, eventually selling them at
craft fairs in Oregon.

As the popularity of the blankets grew, so did the material scraps. Mindful of waste, Angeline and Robbin began to repurpose the
scraps into sun hats. Years of tinkering with the hat design led to the Original Adventure Hat™, featuring UPF 50+ sun protection, a wide brim, and a protective neck cape. The Adventure Hat is still an icon today.
In 2007, the second generation Lacys joined the business. Today, the family-owned company continues to craft innovative and sustainable headwear and accessories that help you stay out longer, so you can do more of what you enjoy with the people you love.

Wherever possible, they avoid using per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and flourine in the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) to ensure safety for factory workers, customers, and the environment. Look for the "Pfas-free Durable water repellant" (DWR) call-out on their hats.
