A tough, waterproof way to keep gear dry and organised on paddling trips, motorcycle touring or wherever the conditions turn wet. Built from 420D ripstop nylon with a triple-coated oval base and a 10,000mm hydrostatic head, the Big River Dry Backpack keeps water out through submersion, spray or a soaking wet pack-down. A hypalon, non-wicking roll-top seals the main compartment, held shut by Sea to Summit's field-replaceable buckles, backed by double-stitched, fully taped seams. A reflective white interior liner makes it easy to spot gear inside, and the oval shape with integrated lash rails keeps it stable when strapped to a kayak, bike or roof rack. An adjustable EVA foam harness with a sternum strap carries it comfortably on the trail.

Sea To Summit

Sea to Summit invent gear that enables freedom and self-reliance in an environment.

They take their adventure and gear seriously, but Aussie humour lightens any journey. Approaching life with directness, candour and integrity, doing what they know is right to build products and relationships that last.

As a young outdoor enthusiast, Roland Tyson (founder of Sea To Summit) had a passion and a talent for creating cutting-edge outdoor equipment for his own adventurers, and soon for other Australian adventurers. By 1991, after outfitting an unusual first ascent of Mt. Everest (a 1126+ kilometre, 8848 metres in elevation trek from sea level to a solo summit), Sea to Summit was born.

Sea to Summit are surfers, hikers, bikers, paddlers, sailors—lovers of outdoor spaces and are inspired by the freedom those spaces provide. Stewardship of the natural environment is as important to them as the creation of new products, and they purposefully make gear that lasts and can be easily repaired.

Sea to Summit invent gear that enables freedom and self-reliance in any environment—and believe it is imperative that same environment be around for future generations of adventurers to enjoy. The meaningful steps they are making towards improving their environmental and social impact, and the commitment to being transparent about their progress is the only way to guarantee they do their part in making that happen.

In 2022, Sea to Summit successfully transitioned from an owner-modelled business to a solid private equity backed business. The certified B-Corporation and Australian investment firm, Five V Capital, signed an agreement with Sea to Summit to become the majority shareholder. This marks an important milestone in Sea to Summit’s history as the brand becomes a global player in the outdoor industry, continuing to grow and expand.
